The Battle of Ramsour's Mill 2013 is this weekend, May 18 and 19, 2013

THE TROOPS ARE READY WITH GUN POWDER AND CANNONS FOR SKIRMISHING, LORD CORNWALLIS, PERIOD DEMONSTRATIONS, AND A “FOURTH WALL” PROGRAM.

The Lincoln County Historical Association and Lincoln County Historic Properties Commission have assembled the troops for the 233nd Anniversary of the Battle of Ramsour’s Mill in Lincolnton on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, 2013. Sponsored by Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton, this year’s reenactment and celebration will be the BEST EVER! There is no better way to spend the weekend with your family!

Just as so many local people in Lincoln County dedicated their time to the cause of freedom during the American Revolution, we ask you to devote some time to assist in our efforts to honor the sacrifices made by these local men and women. This year’s celebration will include period demonstrations and music, a reenactment, a presentation on the battle by Daniel W. Barefoot, theatrical performances “I never saw such fighting! - Lord Cornwallis in America," and "Game to the last! - General Thomas 'Gamecock' Sumter remembers" by Howard Burnham, a “Fourth Wall” program in the camps on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. when visitors will be able to hear first person and primary accounts from re-enactors of statements made after the original battle.

On Friday night, May 17, and Saturday night, May 18, Daniel W. Barefoot will led a Ghost Walk around the original battlefield, stopping at the Whig Captains’ Grave, Mass Grave, and other key historic resources on the site. The Ghost Walk starts at 8:00 p.m. at the main log building, and concludes at 10:00 p.m.

On Saturday night, May 18, Fiddlin' Fred and Mary Lail will play Celtic music at the main log building while the re-enactors gather for food and a good time. The general public is welcome to attend.

Camp opens on Saturday morning and Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. Food will be available each day, and the battle reenactment starts each day at 1:45 p.m. Admission is FREE.

The battleground is located at 301 Jeb Seagle Drive behind Lincolnton High School. Follow the link below for directions.
